School Excursions

Cicerello’s Fremantle has a number of options available to cater for school aged groups heading to Fremantle.  If you are on a planned excursion we have catering options for student meals.  Alternatively read on about our very own Marine Education tour.

School Lunches & Catering

Cicerello’s Fremantle has many large areas where whole school groups can be seated together and enjoy one of our available meal options for school groups.  Our catering service is suitable for groups from 10 upwards.

Importantly we can ensure we deliver large quantities of meals in a timely manner to meet your excursion scheduling.

Follow the following link for a copy of our school catering menu and order form.

Marine Education Tour

The Cicerello’s Marine Education Tour is an ideal introduction to the natural marine environment.  Our team will lead the group through a fun and interactive program which can modified to suit most school age groups.  We require a minimum of 15 students to run a tour (10 for special needs groups) and can cater for large groups of 60 and on special arrangement more.

Students are free to observe the aquariums, which are now over 40 metres long and house many local marine animals. Our tropical aquariums are extremely popular and have a wide visual diversity of colours and textures.

See if you can find the Clownfish ‘Nemo’ interacting with his friends and the anemones!

Fun & Interactive

After walking around the aquariums and observing the fish, students are then seated at tables for a talk about the animals – from the deadly Lionfish, colourful Starfish, Sharks, Sea Horses and everything in between! Students participate in a ‘Hands on Touch and Talk’ encounter with our more tolerant marine animals like the Port Jackson Sharks, Starfish, Sea Cucumbers, Sea Apples and more!

Beach Combing

Students then join our Aquarium Managers for a Nature Discovery Beach Combing exercise along Bather’s Beach, only metres from Cicerello’s (weather permitting). Here the students locate and identify debris washed ashore – Sponges, Seaweeds, Sea Urchins, shells, corals and sea grasses are all a common find.

The students then gather with our Aquarium Manager to identify and classify the group’s collection and find where it originates. Marine pollution is discussed and  the effect it has on the marine  environment is explained, as well as helpful hints on how you can help reduce your impact on the environment.

If the weather is not suitable, an optional worksheet can be provided and depending on the age group, they may either pick their favourite creature from the aquarium to draw or complete a questions and answer sheet about the animals (assisted by the Aquarium Manager).

Suitability

The tour is designed to suit kindy kids through to year 10 students, and visually, mentally, physically and/or hearing impaired children. The tour will be tailored to the requirements of the group.
